Master Your Fate

Life is unpredictable. This past year a global pandemic has derailed plans for summer internships and mission trips. The economic shutdown has compelled businesses to cease hiring or close down, leaving many searching for work. The Beyond program encourages students to embrace their passion, cast a vision for success, and launch their own business – grounded in Christian principles.

Students are turning to entrepreneurship, rather than part-time jobs, to help pay tuition and other college-related expenses. They are discovering there is less risk and a higher payout in starting their own venture while enrolled at Cedarville, instead of waiting until after graduation to seek traditional full-time employment.

Accelerator students learn how to start and scale their business through a series of deliverables rooted in lean startup conventions. These weekly assignments are reviewed by an association of Entrepreneurs in Residence committed to frequent mentorship throughout the course. Students declaring any major are eligible to enroll in the Startup Accelerator provided they meet specific requirements. Those enrolled in the entrepreneurship minor will automatically take part in the accelerator experience (ENTR 3070 01, 2 credits).

If you find your academic schedule overwhelming, but your ambition is larger than life – then plan to participate in at least one Beyond event each semester. Beyond holds an open-tryout pitch competition each semester called The Pitch where students can earn cash prizes for pitching a business idea to seasoned judges. Beyond also holds Conversations on Innovation that invite subject matter experts to relate their experiences to innovation concepts such as risk-taking, leadership and creative thinking. Please follow the Beyond social media for an updated schedule. The Beyond: Innovation Award was founded for students with killer ideas, but unable to afford the credit hours.
